Mott MacDonald, the leading global environmental and engineering consultancy, is to participate in InterMET Asia and InterFLOOD Asia – the extreme weather and flood resilience events for South East Asia, Africa, and the Pacific – which will take place in Singapore from 11-12 April 2018.
While the focus of InterMET is the application of hydrology and meteorology to mitigate and manage the increasing impact of extreme weather & climate change on economy and society, and to develop effective early warning systems, the InterFLOOD focus is on innovations in thinking, funding, technology and design of flood resilient critical infrastructure.
InterMET Asia celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2018 as a forum which brings together participants from Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands. It is supported by the World Bank, the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction & Recovery, the Hydro-Meteorological Equipment Industry Association and the Singapore National Environment Agency among other organisations.
Mott MacDonald will take an exhibition stand at the InterFLOOD Asia exhibition and participate in both the InterMET and InterFLOOD conference & workshop programmes.
Commenting on the company’s participation, Ian Allison, Mott MacDonald’s Head of Climate Resilience, said: “With 2018 marking the 'the Year of Climate Action - Singapore's commitment to the Paris Agreement on Climate Change', InterMET and InterFLOOD offer an excellent opportunity to meet new and existing clients in the Asia and Pacific regions who are acutely aware of the increasing risks of extreme weather events and the need for resilience investment.”
Tony Stephenson, the Event Director of Media Generation Ventures, which runs both InterMET and InterFLOOD, said: “Companies like Mott MacDonald have an increasingly important role to play in helping countries and businesses in the region become more resilient to extreme weather and it’s with great pleasure that we welcome their participation.”
